There is no cost to the church planting residency. However, it is a significant time investment, and for those who live outside of Kansas City, there is cost to move and live during the residency program.
Based on the generosity of our partners, it is our desire to provide some financial asistance for the residents during their time in the program.
Based on available resources, residencts will receive some financial assistance, but will likely be required to secure income from other sources or employment.
Based on available space and resources, housing may be provided for those who are part of the church planting residency from outside the Kansas City metropolitan area.
The Church Planting residency is not general leader training; it’s for those who feel called to plant an Apostolic, missional church, and whose gifts have been affirmed by your spouse and by ministry leaders. Your pastor will need to sign off on your participation in the residency program.
Applicants should be at least 22-years-old, licensed with the UPCI, and hoping to plant within 1–2 years.
This has two possible answers. If you are licensed with a sister organization of the United Pentecostal Church international, then you would be welcomed into the program.
However, if you are not licensed with a qualifying organization, but are still interested in being equipped to assist in church planting you may be eligible to become an intern instead of a resident.
While, the church planning residency is primarily for those who feel called to plant and would like to do so in the next one to two years, people who are exploring this calling can still apply and will be accepted on an individual case basis as space and resources are available.

There are no plans for an online option at this time.
Desiring to plant in or around Kansas City is not a prerequisite to be part of the church planting residency program. Our vision is to see 100 churches planted in Kansas City, but we are passionate about seeing churches planted all across North America. Every community needs a thriving Apostolic work. Wherever you feel called the plant, we will equip you to do it with excellence and health.
Church planting residency program is designed around practical hands on experience in a church plant or church plant. Healthy church plants within 45 minutes of Kansas City and approved by Focus KC leadership will all be options with the goal of having no more than one resident per church church if possible. This will likely depend on the number of current healthy church plants during the residency year.
The mission of Focus KC is not to fund churches, but to train leaders to plant thriving Apostolic churches. However, part of the training you will receive during the residency is how to raise funds for your church plant. Because of the unique temperament and network of each resident, it is not possible to fully guarantee the effectiveness of each individual in raising funds for the new church plant.
